Several years ago Takashi Murakami took an exhibition of new Japanese art to the US to explore the connections between traditional ‘nihonga’ painting and the new pop art coming out of Tokyo. He called it ‘Superflat’. LA artist Gajin Fujita has now taken it one step further with his ukiyo-e-meets-street grafitti pieces.
