Electric city

12 07 2016

On Saturday night, after the hottest July day in Hong Kong in almost fifty years and following a typhoon in Taiwan, the city was drenched by a spectacular electrical storm. The tempest sent flashes of lightning across the night sky; some ten thousand lightning bolts rained down over the city over a period of several hours and booming thunder kept many awake, while the streets were awash.

I saw the light show through the large glass windows of a newly opened gay bar on the twenty-second floor of a Causeway Bay skyscraper, while my boyfriend watched from his balcony at home, taking these pictures of the storm clouds moving over the Lamma strait.
